Brain Awareness Week 2000
13 - 19 March 2000
As the decade of the brain draws to a close, Brain Awareness Week appears to have
established itself in the minds of participants, many of whom are preparing.
Wherever you are and whatever your speciality in neuroscience, Brain Awareness Week
2000 is your opportunity to tell the public about the importance, the excitement and the
promise of neuroscience in the next Century. This major initiative is being co-ordinated by the Dana Alliance for Brain Initiatives. USA and the European Dana Alliance for the Brain. Brain Awareness Week is an annual event that reaches out to the public, opinion formers, governments and the media. Hundreds of events such as lectures, demonstrations, exhibitions, inter-active displays are organised by anyone with an interest in the brain. Universities, hospitals and charities, as well as arts organisations and schools all participate. International organisations like the World Health Organisation (WHO), United Nations, Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), and the International Brain Research Organisation (IBRO), have already expressed an interest in supporting this initiative.
